The Groton soccer program prides itself on the quality of the team’s experience, and that quality lies in success, resilience, and camaraderie.
A David-sized school facing many Goliaths, Groton relies on character and determination to make up the difference. Each year, players move up from JV, but particularly talented freshman consistently round out the roster, often playing significant roles on the team.
The field is an extension of the classroom, where players learn a great deal about themselves while placing the collective above individual goals. Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do,” and at Groton our aim is to realize our best daily while committing to much more than ourselves.
After playing as a boy in Ireland at the national level, Mr. Pedreschi jumped at the chance to go to Middlesex School, where he developed a deep appreciation for the boarding school experience. At Ohio Wesleyan, he captained the soccer team to a national championship during his sophomore year, while earning many personal accolades. Mr. Pedreschi then moved to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he captained the team for two years and again earned a variety of personal distinctions. He has coached in several successful club programs in New England and served as the head scout for Toronto FC from 2011–13. Presently with the FC Stars of Massachusetts, Dave joined Groton’s program in 2013 and works on campus in the academic support office.
